First of all, why would Dunn even have a gun in his car? Second of all, I don’t particularly appreciate when people have their music blaring, but I don’t really say anything to them. It will all be over in a little bit so people should just sit back and relax. I mean, they were at a GAS STATION. How long does it take to refill your car’s fuel tank? Don’t answer that; it was a rhetorical question. My point is that Dunn could’ve just waited for two more minutes MAXIMUM. Anyways, how could you only THINK that you saw a gun? You should be absolutely positive that there is a gun being pointed at you before you shoot with a gun that just so happens to be in your car. Also, it says that he fired the gun eight to nine times. Why would he have to shoot that many times if it was just for self-defense? I feel that he should be found guilty and convicted. He did end up killing Davis, and he did shoot at the other three occupants of the car. I find it…interesting (maybe suspicious) that State Attorney Angela Corey is the main prosecutor in this case that’s so similar to the Trayvon Martin case. She was also the main prosecutor then. I’m not sure if this is a good thing or not, but I guess that we’ll find out soon.
ReplyDeleteI will never really understand my own race. Why do you kill someone over music; because it was too loud? Are you kidding? I think the man is guilty, and in my eyes I can’t see how he would get out of it. There were no dangerous weapons of items of any kind in the car, and eye witnesses say that the car door never opened, so there was no use for a weapon to be drawn and fired.
ReplyDeleteI think this guy is straight up lying about him asking politely and the teens swearing at him. My reasoning behind that is the way he acted when he was being questioned; he had to pause a few times and he scratched his head and it appeared as though he couldn’t stop his hands from moving. Also he could not keep stable eye contact, he constantly moves his head down and avoids eyes contact, and not keeping eye contact and the fiddling of his hands is a sign of guilt.
I believe that Mr. Dunn could possibly have shot his gun at the teens because he feared for his live. The story that he gave police stats that he thought the one teen was pulling out a shot gun after the teen’s friend said kill that guy and after the teen also said you are dead. If I was Mr. Dunn I may have done the same thing because he was threatened and then he assumed the teen was pulling out a gun. I however do not feel that Mr. Dunn should have been so mean about the music. I understand that he asked the teens to turn it down politely. I do not think that he had to say anything because he wasn’t at the gas station for that long of a time. If Mr. Dunn would have never said anything than none of this would have happened and he wouldn’t be arrested and there wouldn’t be an innocent 17 year old dead. Mr. Dunn should not have said anything.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think that Michael Dunn should be charged for murdering Jordan Davis. His reasoning wasn’t completely valid, seeing that there wasn’t a gun in the car Davis was in. Dunn shot at the car eight or nine times, and that seems unreasonable seeing that he could not have been provoked by a gun in the opposing vehicle. He couldn’t really have been shooting in self-defense because he wasn’t in need of defense because there were not any shots fired prior to Dunn’s shooting. If he did not like the loud music, he also could have possibly found another parking spot away from the vehicle. It seems ridiculous that someone would shoot at someone because they were asked to turn down their music. If there weren’t any guns found by the police during the investigation, Michael Dunn couldn’t have possibly seen any weapons in their vehicles either. I think that Dunn should go to jail for killing this teen.
ReplyDeleteWell this is an interesting case. I’m not sure how I feel about who’s guilty or not. If it’s true that they were threatening him, and they had a gun it would be more understandable for Dunn to have reacted the way he did. I’m not saying that he isn’t guilty for murder because he did take the life of someone the only thing is that he could feel threatened. If they really had a gun in the car this could be a completely different case. Instead of figuring out if Michael Dunn was guilty or not we could be deciding if the teenagers were guilty. Michael Dunn could have just pulled out his gun and left it at that. He could have even fired a warning shot at the ground, but if he was truly threatened I would kind of understand his actions. In the world we live in its kill or be killed, and clearly Michael Dunn decided to defend himself.
ReplyDeleteI think that Dunn should be found guilty. First of all there is no reason to keep a gun in your vehicle. Also if you were firing in self defense, then why would you shot 8 or 9 times. That just doesn't make any sense. The fact that this happened just because they didn't turn down their music is absolutely ridiculous. It shows how messed up this world has become. People's solution to their problems are either shoot themselves or even others. It is really messed up. I don't understand how people find it completely okay to grab a gun a shot someone just because you are suspicious of the other person having a gun also. I feel like Dunn is using the whole self defense thing as a cover to his racism and ignronece. This story is pathetic on so many levels.

ReplyDeletePersonally, if I was sat next to a car with loud music I would attempt to ignore it. If for some reason I decided not to ignore it heard what Michael Dunn claimed to hear from the four boys, I would have tried to leave the situation alone. On top of that Michael Dunn claimed that he saw the barrel of a gun. Any normal person would have called the police immediately, not pulled out their gun to shoot four bullets into the side of the car and four more as it sped off.
Michael Dunn killed an innocent seventeen year old boy who had his whole life ahead of him for un-reasonable suspicion that his own life was in danger. I understand the whole fight or flight reasoning, but was taking an innocent life worth it? He could have called the cops and given them their license plate number, letting them take it into their own hands without the unnecessary violence and death. No matter if Dunn shot at them for self-defense, he could have shot in the air once to scare them and not at their car eight times. He deserves to go to jail for what he did, where the only thing he can do is let the guilt of taking another person’s life eat away at him. Although, judging by how he acts in the video he feels not one bit of remorse.
I personally think Dunn should be guilty because there is absolutely no reason why someone should get shot over the fact that their music was too loud. Is that a sick joke or something? People shouldn’t be even allowed to have guns in their own car with or without a license because stupid things like this could happen. If you don’t like what someone is doing, then either take yourself away from the situation or explain to them in a calm voice. Then again, putting myself in his shoes at the time I would have thought the same thing since the teenager was threating him and he thought he was taking a gun out. It’s hard to determine what another person’s action is going to be, but he should have at least thought about it twice. I still believe he should go to prison for his actions and for killing someone who was somewhat innocent. There is no need for people in this world to die over getting shot for a pointless situation.
ReplyDeleteIt is not surprising to hear about a case like this one. And honestly it will probably just be the same outcome of the Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman case because of the stand your ground law. It is terrible someone so young lost their life over something so stupid. But I would really be surprised if Michael Dunn is found guilty. If he is claiming he saw a shotgun in their car the jury will probably say he was protecting himself. Even though there was no weapon found in the car and he could easily be making it all up. Michael Dunn is guilty. He took a young life and really has no justification. Anyone can put up with loud music for the short duration they are parked at a gas station. So many people play their music loud and if you can’t put up with it, don’t leave your house.
ReplyDeleteI personally think that Michael Dunn should be found guilty under all circumstances. There is no reason at all Dunn should have shot the teens for their music being obnoxiously loud.I believe that people shouldn't be able to carry around armed guns in their own cars. Also there is no reason that he should be shooting the teen at least 8 or 9 times, that is not self defense. I feel that in this specific case it shows that people in this world are mentally messed up. Also Mr. Dunn was only at a gas station so he was only hearing the music for a few moments. Personally I don't think that Mr. Dunn fired in his own self defense because how was he supposed to know that those teens were using the gun on him? I feel like Mr. Dunn just jumped to conclusions right away. I also feel like Mr. Dunn was lying in his case about asking the teens to politely turn down their music because why would he get so defensive? I mean I guess no one will really know what happened at the gas station.

ReplyDeleteI understand that loud music may be somewhat annoying, but I don't really think shooting someone over it is really necessary. Whether the teenager was purposely keeping his music loud to irritate the older man or not, it was still completely out of line to take his life over that. It is understood that the man believed that the teenager had a weapon on him and he moved quickly in response, but it wasn’t right to shoot multiple times and try to hit the three others in the vehicle. Dunn claimed to see a gun in possession of the boys but it was discovered that there was no weapon at all. I believe that Dunn was just paranoid and he didn’t know what else to do. Unfortunately for him, he took his actions too far and took the life of a seventeen year old boy. It’s a situation that could have easily been avoided but now, this man will have to face his wrongdoing for the rest of his life.
I believe Michael Dunn should be found guilty. In Florida you are allowed to have a gun in your car if it is securely encased. I am not sure if Dunn had his gun safely enclosed but he should not have pulled it out unless he had seen the kid’s gun. If it was self-defense why did he shoot 8 or 9 times? The reason he fired is also weird. Why does it matter how loud their music is? Is shooting someone due to the fact someone’s music is to loud worth possibly going to jail? I don’t believe Dunn should have even taken his gun out. The police report says there were no guns found in the 17 year old, Jordan Davis’s car. I also don’t believe he should have confronted the guys because of the volume of the music. I believe Michael Dunn will be found guilty.
ReplyDeleteI think Michael Dunn is guilty. I don’t think he should have shot or killed Jordan Davis. The reason he said he shot the boy because Dunn said that Jordan's music was too loud and he feared for his life. Dunn stated that he thought one of the boys was reaching for a gun. The police report later said that no gun was found in the boy’s car. Even if Dunn feared for his own life why shoot eight or nine times. The man should not have shot him anyway. The boy did not have a gun or anything to protect himself. Why would the man even shoot the kid if the music was too loud? How was the boy’s music affecting Michael Dunn? I think Michael Dunn should be put in jail. I think it’s also wrong that he pulled the gun on him so fast and he did not even see a gun because the police searched the car and none was found.
